Yucca aloifolia marginata – odolává teplotám mezi -13° C / -17° C - maximální výška 1,5 m - 3 m
Popis rostliny
Yucca aloifolia marginata je pestrá forma Yucca aloifolia. Tato zajímavě vypadající rostlina vytváří tuhé růžice ostře špičatých (ve tvaru dýky) masitých listů, které jsou až 60 mm široké a téměř metr dlouhé. Jeho listy jsou zelenohnědé se smetanově žlutými okraji. Tento druh obvykle tvoří singulární kmeny. Květy jsou ve tvaru šálku, krémově bílé, s nádechem fialové barvy. Květy se tvoří ve velkých shlucích. Je to vždy zelený keř z čeledi Asparagaceae, který roste hlavně v pobřežních pláních na jihu Spojených států a Mexika podél dun, silnic a v otevřených pobřežních lesích.
Této rostlině se nejlépe daří v nechráněných zónách 7 - 11. Lze ji pěstovat i v chladnějších zónách 7 a méně. Ale pokud teplota začne klesat pod její nejnižší hodnoty, tak musí být dobře chráněna, a to buď pomocí topných kabelů s netkanou textilií nebo pomocí topného tělesa s ventilátorem nebo nějakým přístřeškem nebo skleníkem proti dešťovým srážkám, sněhu i mrazu. Přes zimu doporučujeme rostlinu ukrýt pod střechu, protože je choulostivá na srážky a vlhkost. V suchu by rostlina měla být odolná mezi -13° C / -17° C.
Yuky, agáve a palmy vždy vysazujeme na jižní straně zahrady na plném slunci a měly by být VŽDY vysazovány minimálně 20 - 30 cm nad okolní zem, aby přebytečná voda odtekla od rostliny a nezůstávala kolem kořenového systému a kmene, protože by kořeny i kmen začaly uhnívat. Nejlépe se bude této jucce dařit v písčitých a odvodněných půdách vysazených výše než je okolní půda, například ve skalce nebo na nějakém kopečku.
Tyto rostliny jsou prakticky bezúdržbové. V létě pouze mírná zálivka. Hnojit můžete jednou za 2 až 3 týdny. Po celou zimu rostlinu, pokud je zasazena do země, udržujte v co nejsušších podmínkách.
Velmi doporučujeme tuto yuccu vysadit do volné půdy v ČR.

Yucca aloifolia marginata - cold hardy between -13°C / -17°C -maximum height 1,5 m - 3 m
Plant description
Yucca aloifolia marginata is a diverse form of yucca aloifolia. This interesting-looking plant creates stiff rosettes of sharply pointed (dagger-shaped), fleshy leaves that are up to 60 mm wide and almost a meter long. The leaves are sea green (greenish-brown) with creamy yellow edges or margins. This species usually forms singular trunks. The flowers are cup-shaped and creamy white with a tint of purple. The flowers form in large clusters. It is an evergreen shrub in the Asparagaceae family that grows mainly in the coastal plains of the southern United States and Mexico along dunes, roads, and open coastal forests. This plant thrives best in unprotected zones 7a - 11. It can be grown in colder zones then in zone 7 and less but must be well protected against rain, snow and frost over the winter if the temperature drops down to its lowest temperature. Like with other yuccas, they are very sensitive to rain and moisture. If the plant is kept dry all winter (once in the ground), then it should be frost resistant between -13°C / -17°C.
Yuccas will do best in sandy wll drained soils planted higher then the above ground, for example in rockeries or on mounts. Yuccas, agaves and palm trees are always planted on the south side of the garden in full sun except for a few yucca species like yucca elegans which like a shaded area and a few others and should ALWAYS be planted at least 20-30 cm above the surrounding ground so that excess water can escape away from the plant and does not remain around the root and the trunk system or the roots and trunk will begin to rot if the duration period is longer. These plants are practically maintenance free. Moderate summer watering and fertilizing once every 2-3 weeks during its vegetaion period from March to the end of September keeping the plant as dry as possible all winter if planted in the ground. If kept in a pot and inside the house during the winter where temperatures are stable at around +22°C and more then water properly once every 3 weeks keeping the soil on the dry side letting it dry out a little between every watering. Remember, the plant will adapt easier to (drought) - underwatering then to excess water as they store water in their trunk system and can survive longer period without water.
These plants are virtually maintenance-free.
We highly recommend planting this yucca in the ground keeping in mind the zone in which you live in.
